Fencers love us.

How does it work?

You ship us your mask or give it to us in person at the next NAC or major tournament (depends on luggage space and available orders, so email ahead of time), and we get the paint job done within the month. You pay for shipping back (depending on location). We will email you specific instructions once the order is placed.

Our process:

  • A balcony with a beige cloth surface, on which a black mesh object with metallic details and a crumpled tissue are placed. The balcony has a metal railing with a grassy area visible beyond.

    Prep Work

This foil mask was originally painted with a toxic automotive paint. It chipped and yellowed in under a month, and the smell was so irritating, the owner initially replaced the whole mask. So we stripped the mask using a non-toxic paint stripper (and stenciled his name on the unaffected area).

  • Person holding a hockey mask in a room with dumbbells and a wood floor.

    First Layers

We airbrushed the first few base layers of white, giving a durable base layer for the flag design. We also touched up the back rim of the mask, eliminating all conductivity.

  • A close-up of a round object with a pattern resembling the American flag, held in a person's hand.

    Finishing the Design

We handcut stencils for an American flag, and hand-mixed various paints to reach the desired colors. We topcoated with a clear coat for added durability and sent the mask to the fencer once cured. The mask he planned to throw away became his competition mask.
